A compelling novel about the nature of time, blindness and chaos, set against the backdrop of twenty-first-century Sydney and Hong Kong.

Haunted by the disappearance of her twin brother in Hong Kong, photographer Anna Fraiser travels home to Sydney. Beginning a photographic study of fossilised ammonite shells she meets Seth La Marque, a blind palaeontologist and his sister Rachel, a lawyer working with the homeless.

As Anna's work progresses she finds herself drawn deeper into Seth and Rachels lives. But her brother's absence binds her to a past she cannot escape, until she returns to Hong Kong to find him.

James Bradley is the winner of the Fellowship of Australian Writers' Literature Award, and has been shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Award and regional Commonwealth Writers Prize for Best First Book.
