The Fred Hollows Foundation Ten Years on
In the ten years since Fred Hollows died, the Fred Hollows Foundation has continued the work he pioneered in bringing sight and better health to people in need.
To mark the anniversary of Fred's death and a decade of the Foundation, journalists and photographers from the Age, Sydney Morning Herald and Sun-Herald were invited to visit the Foundation's eye-care programs here and overseas, to meet the people who run them and those who benefit. Stories of some individuals move from heartbreaking to inspiring as their sight is returned. Others tell of people working to achieve first-class eye care in the most difficult conditions.
The journalists write about their own experiences too, as they adjust to life in outback Australia, and small towns in Pakistan, Vietnam, South Africa, Vietnam, the Pacific, China and Eritrea. Introduction by Thomas Keneally.
