Fifty Years in Films: Selected Works

This book contains selected works by Lev Kuleshov (1899-1970), an outstanding Soviet film director and theorist, who made such classics as The Extraordinary Adventures of Mr. West in the Land of the Bolsheviks, By the Law, The Great Consoler, and wrote a great number of articles and books, some of which, including the first ever textbook for film directors, The Fundamentals of Film Direction, have been published in many languages.

For fifty years, since 1920, he was continuously involved with the All-Union Film Institute (VGIK), where he trained several generations of Soviet film-makers.
